can merz [dealer]- know if i have bad rod ?? and would a engine oil change/ brand cause such a problem. 5-30 wt… with 140k
If the tag is right, and you don’t change the oil regularly, then yes, you can expect a rod knock with 140K on the clock. And yes, any experienced mechanic can recognize a rod knock almost instantly. After experiencing 3 within the first year as a mechanic, I know instantly when I hear one.
I also doubt that 5W-30 is the recommended oil for that vehicle.
