my husband recently purchased a 2004 mazda miata convertible. the daytime driving lights do not automatically come on when the car is started. can we change this or do we need to take it to a mazda dealer?
If you live in an area where this is mandatory, you should have it fixed. I would try an independent garage, like one that says “Auto Electric”, or your own favorite mechanic. The dealer will likely replace a number of things at great cost.
If you are not legally required to have them in your area, I would not bother with it; you can always turn them on your self. Older cars don’t have this feature.
Are you absolutely sure that this car originally came equipped with daytime running lights? Even with 2008 models, some manufacturers (Toyota comes to mind) do not provide this feature unless you opt for it at extra cost.
