It means you probably have either a bad mass air flow sensor, bad wiring going to the sensor, or a bad air leak somewhere downstream of the sensor.
If the car uses a ‘manifold absolute pressure’ sensor instead of a MAF, then that is likely bad, has bad wiring, or has a vacuum line off of it or cracked.
