Inherited a 57 T-Bird- 292 engine. Once warmed-up, oil pressure at idle is between 5-10psi- running is around 25psi. I do not believe the engine has been rebuilt. Oil pump replaced and did not see any metal shavings in pan during last change.
Are the main and rod bearings out of tolerance, creating a need to rebuild?
How are you measuring the pressure, on the car’s guage (if equipped) or with a shop tool oil pressure guage?
Is the car going to be a driver in any sense? if no, Leave it all together and sell. I think the car will be more desireable to a collector with the original engine as is.
