No wonder traffic here has dropped off. No one can read.
I will be going in soon to renew my license and get a Real ID at the same time… Be sure you bring all the required documents your state’s DMV requires…
Here in Virginia I am required to being in:…
~~~ One proof of identity (the unexpired driver’s license will do…);
~~~ Two proofs of Virginia residency (rental agreement Property deed, utility bills less than two months old, etc…);
~~~ One proof of legal presence (birth certificate, passport, U.S. Certificate of Citizenship or Certificate of Naturalization, etc…);
~~~ Proof of your Social Security number (SSN);
~~~ Proof of name change, if your name appears differently on your proof documents.
~~~ Plus the $10 fee for the ID and the original cost of the driver’s license which costs $32, Total $42.00
IIRC the required documents are a federal demands, and should be the same in all states.
In our area the offices are separate but in f he same building behind what used to be a Sears. Easier to pick up your tabs than the county offices not far away getting your tabs almost as soon as you can drive down there. County offices are pretty efficient and friendly but you’re waiting a few minutes in the l9bby before being assigned a windows. Up to the late 80s the vw dealer was on that site, where we bought our new 1978 diesel Rabbit . All the car dealers moved to the new auto mall by 1992
Tabs? Do you mean Tags?
No, I’m pretty sure he means Tabs. You know, the little adhesive decal with that you stick on the upper corner of your license plate every year that shows you have paid the current registration fee. That way you don’t get pulled over or get a ticket for driving with expired tabs.
Perhaps tabs/tags is a pop/soda kind of thing? ![]()
For a few years in the '90s, NJ used those little tabs. NJ requires two license plates, and they would send you two tabs with your new registration.
I lost count of the number of cars I observed with both tabs on the rear plate, and–obviously–none on the front plate. We used to call this the “quick IQ test”, but I did see one example that was even more mindless.
In that instance, the driver had placed both tabs on the outside of the windshield, in the general vicinity of the inspection sticker. By the time that I saw it, the wipers had already scraped-off a lot of the text on the stickers.
Oh, Ok! In NC we call them “Stickers”!
I’m old enough to remember in 57, they used to be metal tabs that were screwed onto the plate each year. It was my job to change them in the January cold. Pain in the neck. I don’t think 3M had invented adhesive yet. Sarc.
In Virginia, when you renew your license plates the DMV gives or sends you your new license plate “decals” (peel and stick stickers), two of them for the front and back plates. Bless their hearts…
No more license plate tabs/stickers in Texas, the registration sticker goes on the inside of the windshield.
In Virginia, the state vehicle inspection Sticker goes on the lower left side (driver’s side). And until few years ago, the county property tax sticker went dead center bottom of the windshied…
Looks like she’s wearing rubber gloves. Does that mean Tab is corrosive? ![]()
From what I recall about its taste, I would say… yes.

I never liked Tab either.
I tried it a few times, just to see what the deal was
Nothing to write home about, imo
As for the commercials, some of what I found was FAR more risque than the one I posted ![]()
Naw she’s just cleaning. I always wear gloves when I mop or vacuum. Tender hands.
I’ve done a lot of decals and they are not stickers. Just sayin is all. Two different things. Ya aren’t gonna get a decal to stick on a license plate. But then a rose by any other name . . .
But when you pull off the road to buy a can of Mountain Dew, are you buying pop or soda?
