Looking at buying Used Hatchback under $10k

I am looking closely at used Mazda3 hatchbacks. Is this a well performing, reliable car? Or should I be considering something else?

Mazdas are sportier rides, but are pretty reliable. You could probably find an 05 or 06 in your price range
