Some manufacturers have the tire pressure decal on the inside of the fuel filler door, fyi
Thanks!
But when ChrisTire says the same exact thing, he is told he comes across as “preachy”.
I guess who the information comes from is more important than the info itself. (not impugning Cavell)
There are at least two people who belong on the sidewalk, how many times do we need to read about your tire pressure?
I believe you may just be the male equivalent of a Karen
Now that we ALL know that, here’s the thing . . .
Do you WANT to get along better with other people?
Or is it THAT important for you to “educate” us and “correct” things that don’t meet your standards?
I would like to know what Karen has to do with anything.
Perhaps we should all relax with some music by the Carpenters!
When it comes to tires, why do I listen carefully to CapriRacer?
Aside from his career in the tire industry, he shares his information in a way that draws an interest into learning what he’s explaining. He’s never attached to his opinion.
After reading many hundreds of his posts, nowhere does he ever imply he considers himself a tire “whisperer”, even though most or all view him in that regard. That title is always given to someone by others as a result of widespread recognition, not something a person gives to themselves.
.
Meanwhile, on our quest to reach 200 posts in this thread, here is my next contribution.
Saturday adjusted all my tires to the recommended (by the vehicle manufacturer) 32 PSI pressure. My pressure gauge reads to tenths of a pound, I fill to the recommended PSI plus 3/10 to allow for the fssst when I remove the chuck. After driving for about 10 miles, checked the dash readout, each tire was at 36 PSI, I have never had all four tires read the same on the dash readout.
BTW, I checked the gauge on my chuck to two other gauges, all read the same, close enough for me!
Years ago, I was on a golf vacation in at Pinehurst North Carolina. We were playing a few rounds of golf during the week and then that Saturday and Sunday we had tickets to the US open. On Thursday we were playing a nearby course to the US open. As we were playing the Goodyear Blimp was flying overhead on its way over to Pinehurst. My only thought at the time was - “Please don’t film me golfing.”
hello. Been gone for a bit due to some other obligations, but I see the flags are flying. This seems to have been created in some kind of score-settling spirit to obliquely call other people narrow minded, but it’s not settling anything. @ChrisTheTireWhisperer please let it go.
That’s due to heat expansion from driving, some times combined with increase in ambient temperatures. Nothing to worry about.
We missed you. Welcome back, Carolyn!
Wow. I suppose you also perform the almost unheard-of process of checking your oil and filling the washer fluid on a regular basis? ![]()
Seriously, I think the discussions here about tire pressure being 2psi off or the oil being 1/4” over full are kind of preaching to the choir, not because it matters if your tire is at 33 instead of 34 but because all of us here understand that tires need air and engines need oil.
How many engines have all of seen blown up because the owner couldn’t be bothered to open the hood and check the oil? Checking the oil is easier and faster than cleaning your toilet, but how many people go months at a time without doing that?
There is the possibility that, for every regular, like asemaster and davesmopar, there may be a dozen unseen ‘lurkers’ (non-members, or members who only browse the threads) or those who googled tire pressure, oil, air conditioning who knows, and this forum or thread popped up in their results.
The stuff we discuss here might be useful to those unseen and/or non-directly participating.
Can I tone down the repetition-repetition? I’ll give it a try.
And please let us not snap back at each other, or name-call, in our responses. I have at least learned where snapping back gets one. The lurkers see that also, and it might scare them away from one day becoming active, productive participants here.
Wrong, heat expansion would not explain why each tire was exactly the same. Usually after driving ten miles, tire read out might be 35,37,36,35. You don’t understand, the dash read out does not display decimals. All numbers are round off to a whole number.
You all just love telling other people they’re “wrong”. Not just you, but at least four other tribe members.
No wonder Dionne Warwick lost the directions to San Jose..!
Okay, you are not wrong. For the five years I have had this car, adjusting tire pressures as need, then I was reading the numbers wrong. The warm PSI must always have been exactly the same.
Here is the screen shot I took after using my Carista App while I aired up my tires (I was a little bored), after driving a few miles, they will stay within 1psi of each other on the dash, but I haven’t been really bored enough to watch live data as I drove the truck yet…
My TPMS always shows the pressures within 1 psi of each other after getting some heat in them…
Looking at your screenshot…were you listening to Ozzy or is your car called the Crazy Train?
lol, It was Ozzy, I listen to Pandora, and the Heavy Metal Radio station most of the time…
I named the truck B-red… lol
