my last car ran great worked in california desert heat then wisconsin subzero temps and snow and took me all over this country till it got t boned by some crazy old lady that was driving too fast to brake. meanwhile i got a ticket and i couldnt afford a fix so i had to sell the car and claim its totaled to the insurance company. i went from paying $120 for six months of car insurance to now paying just over $100 a month for car insurance or $600 for every 6 months of car insurance.
See if you can make a list of unexpected expenses to which you are most financially vulnerable, listed in order. If car repairs appear near the top, probably a good time to learn how to do more of these yourself, as a diyâer.
None of this makes sense . Lady hit you and you got the ticket ? Could not afford to fix so you sold and then claimed totaled vehicle ?
I am out of here because I donât think you can be helped .
i was doing a left turn. she slammed brakes and still slammed into me so she was going too fast. i personally thought it was her fault for driving too fast. i thought i was clear. there were trees in the way but looked clear. she slammed brakes and still hit me. she told police she doesnt know if she was driving too fast showing signs of guilt. i got ticket for impeding traffic or something. its been over two years. its totaled cause the crash caused a coolant reservoir to bust along with structural damage.
your stance is that you dont have rapport with me for one reason or another
my stance is that she was driving too fast
cop was thinking i got in her way thus my fault
its alright though this is a forum youre not forced to help or respond to anyone
That is no reason to total a car, it is pretty a cheap repair normally and on older Hondas, now frame damage is a different storyâŠ
And yes, turning in front of on coming traffic with out a left turn green light does make it your faultâŠand you probably need to learn to judge speed and distance of other vehicles a little better, but accidents happen from time to time so lets move onâŠ
Great attitude on your part to maintain your vehicle but for the rest about âmiddle class just getting rid and buying newâ, not so much.
If you split Middle class, income of $XXX, into two groups based on their Accumulated Net Worth, youâll find very different spending habits and outcomes.
Middle Class/Poor drives a leased BMW SUV with all the bling, charged up credit cards and nothing in the bank.
Middle Class/Wealthy drives a 5 year old Toyota or Hyundai sedan with constant offers to raise their limit and healthy balances in their bank and brokerage accounts.
In 5 years when you and the girlfriend are looking at buying a home, 20 years when youâre sending the âlittle oneâ off to college or trade school or 40 years when youâre looking back at retirement sticking with that old Toyota/ Hyundai/Chevy will look pretty darn good.
You got put behind the legal-8-ball when the accident happened when you were making a left hand turn. Accidents during left hand turns or backing up, the driver doing those are almost always presumed at fault. Another way to say this is that you have to overcome the" burden of proof" if you intend to place the cause on someone else.
@itouring2010 Please just stop. You really donât want any help, youâve already made up your mind.
If you spend $4,000.00 a year on maintenance and or repairs on your vehicle, that is still only $334.00 a month, that is still way less than the average $30,000 car with a $483.00 monthly note, then you still have to add maintenance and repairs on top of that, if usedâŠ
It the vehicle is not all rusted out, it is almost always cheaper to repair than replace⊠But if you are financially well off enough to buy a new car for whatever reason, then nothing wrong with that either, it all depends on your budgetâŠ
And most of the Middleclass Americans that I know repair their vehicles for years before deciding to replace them, except for the posers, they are a different bread⊠lol
middle class nowadays is close to $100,000 annual income. in california $100,000 a year is lower tier middle class. my dad made six figures since the 90s and now retired. my brother makes $200,000+ and his wife is a lawyer also around there but slightly higher since she is a corporate lawyer not some courtroom trial lawyer. theyre middle class. my brother doesnt fix his car.
upper class are people living in houses with 6 bedrooms worth over a million dollars. believe it or not even having a million dollar house in cali is not upper class anymore.
none of the above people fix their cars. i had an ex making $150,000 a year. she doesnt fix her car she just buys a new one if it gives her enough headaches.
me and my gf are not middle class. my gfs nephew makes $30 an hour as an hvac tech he is near middle class thats not upper class either. he is also only 19.
my dad said it and he is correct. when i lived in cali our neighborhood had NO autozones. my current neighborhood has like 3 or 4 autozones within 5 mile radius. the california neighborhood where my parents lived the average price of a house is currently $735,000. and its not an upper class area.
EXACTLY! Donât spend what you do not have in handâŠ
My mother had two accidents like this you described here. Both times she was given tickets for interfering with traffic.
In NY, left turns are treated as at fault.
So even if someone was going 150mph and you cut in front of them by making a left turn, you will be at fault.
In a lot of states left turns are consider to have no right of way.
