Is there a way to repair it or would i need a new one?

my 2001 volkswagen 5 speed jetta wolfburg car won’t shift into gear, its pretty hard to even put it into 1 gear what might be the problem, and how much will it cost to repair, or to buy a new one?

Does it shift into gear with the engine off and the clutch pedal fully depressed?
If the problem starts only after the engine is started up, it is probably that the clutch is not fully releasing. Could be caused by the clutch itself, but more likely the clutch release system is at fault.

This is a common problem with this model. A friend had to replace all the linkages and have the clutch re-adjusted. After that it ran fine. You need a good VW experienced mechanic to do this for you.
