A while back I noticed a musty/moldy odor in the interior of my 2001 Dodge Ram 1500. I sprayed it with Fabreze to try and eliminate it but it only made it worse. I have no idea where it came from or how it started. I also have idea where it is exactly, it just seems to be everywhere. Has anyone experienced this or do they know how to eliminateit?
It is very possible that you have mold and/or mildew growing in the ducts of the HVAC system. A good auto parts store will have a fungicidal spray that can be used to kill the outgrowth.
Thank you. I will give that a try.
If you sprayed it with Fabreze and the odor got worse, I’m guessing the problem is too much Fabreze.
The first thing you have to do is determine if the odor is coming from the HVAC or the cabin. Turn off the HVAC and sit in the car. After that, turn on the HVAC and stick your nose next to the outlets. Does the smell get worse?
That is a good point. I will try that first. Thanks.
Also, if the truck has a cabin air filter perhaps it should be changed.
