Reread your article - more carefully this time! Note where it says “Fel-Pro performance solid metal core intake manifold gaskets” They also make the fiber core trimmable gaskets for when you need a custom fit.
I know; I was referring to this pull-quote:

Just making the point that metal core isn’t the end-all solution for all applications.
Some applications need it - some don’t.
