Inhaling microplastics in cars

Wow, had forgotten about those until you just mentioned it. Now I’m remembering the big, rectangular, strap on the front fender mirrors for towing our small camper…

For those not old enough to remember these-

Heh heh heh. I sold them to a guy at the auto parts store for somewhere around $20. He was the paint expert there. Must have been after I bought my 81 olds with dual mirrors. Not electric yet. That would come later.

What is a mirror restriction?

Restriction =required to have. He was required to have dual mirrors. Just like I have an eyeglass restriction.

CT Dept of Transportation calls it "endorsement”

Endorsements are usually additional uses, certifications, etc

For example, in my state, I have a motorcycle endorsement. On the other hand, I have restriction for vision correction (eyeglasses or contact lenses to correct my vision).

Maryland calls your endorsements classes. I have a class C license. I can drive no commercial vehicles less than 20,000 lbs. I also have a class M for motorcycles. Corrected vision is called a restriction.

I can see (pun intended) having a glasses requirement to drive if your vision is impaired. But I can’t see a reason on require someone to install an additional mirror…maybe a physical disability that prevents you from looking around you?

There’s a good pun in there…exactly vision related restriction. If you have loss of vision in your right eye for example, then the compensation is to require a right outside mirror. Unless of course you are an owl and can turn your head 270 degrees or more, then you’re good to go

I’m not sure if my state has a requirement like that. I have a friend who lost his left eye, but since all cars come with a left outside mirror…

I’m not sure what the machine was at my last eye exam but it was a super bright light and my right eye hasn’t been the same since. I have to renew my license now too so we’ll see.

It goes back to when single mirrors were the standard.

I renew mine on line (TN)… lol
I think the only reason you would have/need/want to go inside would be to update your picture… My picture is old…

So are you! We’ve got a match!

My picture is old too. As we age though, our head features don’t change as much and our photos on the license look enough like us that getting a replacement photo isn’t necessary.

The ophthalmologist is trying to illuminate the inside of your eye to look for abnormalities, like the start of detached retinas. Discuss it with your ophthalmologist about it at the start of your next exam.

Varies by state, I know my last renewal had to be done at the DMV with eye test.
