Information about replacing shifter cable on 1989 honda accord lx

I have a 1989 Honda Accord LX , Automatic transmission. How do I get the shifter cable out of the transmission ??? How difficult is it to remove it? Does the transmission have to be removed inorder to disconnect the cable, or is there an easier way to access it, without having to remove the transmission ???

A service manual, such as Haynes or similar, would answer this question for you. If you’re attempting do-it-yourself repairs you really should have a manual.

Book stores and auto parts stores sell these manuals, and they are not expensive. Used ones can sometimes be found at Books4Cars.com.

I have a manual and there is no mention in the manual on how to replace a shifter cable. Anybody out there that has an information on this?
