If you haven’t heard of it, this is an off road utility vehicle. It is designed to replace the Land Rover Defender (not associated with JLR), and is very old school. I saw it first in newspaper ads this week. I’m not interested but some of you might be. It’s a lot more expensive than a Jeep Gladiator, but it is also more capable. Here’s a recent review. Interested?
In person they look much like an old defender but not exactly. Optional lockers for front and rear diff and a crew cab truck is offered. I can see the appeal if you have a nearby dealership.
Seattle dealer still has 2024 models at $11,000 ,off. $9,000 discount on the 2025.. still cheaper than a G Wagon thats more common in major cities.
Unfortunately, Land Rover has an extremely poor reputation for reliability.
But Ineos is not Land Rover. Since it’s a new company, we’ll see how it works out for them. I read a couple of years ago that Land Rover had the shortest hold time on the dealer’s lot. Apparently poor reliability isn’t a killer for their customers. That’s not the issue here though.
There’s one in the lobby of my local Costco, so apparently they are participating in Costco’s car buying program.
$2;000 Discount on Grenadier or $1,750 on quartermaster for Coscti members. Under offers on the website.
I’ve read it’s capable offroad, but kinda crude on road. Folks around here buying it as a fashion statement, kind of a bargain G500.
I like all the buttons…
The C&D reviewer liked the buttons too.
That’s been said about the Jeep CJs and old Rovers too. I worked with a guy that owned and restored a Series 1 Land Rover. The crude character is what attracted him to it.
Car & Driver is out of their league and misses the point of this vehicle, lamenting the lack of heated seats and leather in the base trim.
The testers that have owned Jeeps or other off-road trucks find the steering scary at first but off road it puts you where you want the front wheels. The power train is used in multiple bmws but we cannot predict how reliable the rest is yet basically is for a specific buyer. We do have slightly more land rover dealers in the pnw than ineos.
Only need three Land Rover dealers to exceed the 2 PNW Ineos dealerships. There’s only one in the Baltimore/Washington metro area. There’s next closest is suburban Philadelphia. To the south, the closest is in Greensboro, NC. Makes sense to start small.
Ttesla was Seattle’ only until the model3, rivian only has service here.
I’d sure want heated seats, something $28,000 compacts offer. This isn’t a bargain ride.
