I think meanjoe is right about the optical illusion on VDC’s photo… but it still ain’t safe! Hopefully no one with a beer in him will lean on a rear fender.
Besides, that cast I-beam rear axle isn’t designed to be loaded in that manner. It wouldn’t surprise me a bit if it simply gave way and snapped.
