Yes as a rule of thumb, or most (key word most) of the automotive vehicles run the A/C while in def mode partly to keep everything lubricated during the off A/C seasons, while the other reason is to dehumidify the air, as blowing dry, warm air onto the cold windshield clears condensation/fog much faster and more effectively than just warm humid air… and yes for safety reasons, some/most/all use pressure switches to keep from damaging the A/C below x temps…
This is NOT a blanket statement as there are exceptions to every rule…
And since we are mostly in the US market, I am not talking about the rest of the world, not their, don’t care what they do in their market… and I really don’t care if I used their/there correctly, this is car talk, not an English course forum… lol
