I’m not very knowledgable when it comes to cars, so bear with me. I have a 1999 Ford Taurus. It has not been started in about 2 years. I tried to start it the other day, and I used starting fluid in the air intake. I got it to turn over, and actually start. But it would only run for a few seconds, and then stall. It wouldn’t restart until I added more starting fuel. Do you think the gas is bad?
Yes.

Gas is probably bad and the fuel filter could be clogged as well(need to replace).Drain as much gas out as you can, refill ,install new fuel filter and good luck.
In addition to what the others have said, you should change the oil before you try starting it again. I would also put in a new set of spark plugs.
Buy a cheap siphon pump at the local auto parts store and drain out as much gas as you can. Then fill the tank all the way up with new gas to dilute the remaining old gas as much as possible.
