i own a 1984 mercedes 300 turbo diesel station wagon. when i turn off the ignition and extract the key, the engine would run until the fuel completely ran out if i did not pop the hood and hit the “stop” button for a manual shut off.
can you help?

Benzman will be here shortly, edit your post to include 300D in the title line…
But I think there is a electrical cut-off solenoid that cuts off the engine when you turn the key off…It’s on the injection pump, near that manual over-ride lever…(I think)
it’s called thr fuel shutoff diaphram, located on the injection pump. it’s cont5rolled by vacuum, so check for a bad vacuum hose
