Yes separate clubs for each state and large metro area. If you need trip routings, horse endorsements, and hotel discounts, they are just fine. In Minnesota though, three service calls got your membership canceled and insurance if you used them.
AAA has been just fine for me over the years

We do an AARP, 3 times use. 100 mile towing coverage. Brought out a flatbed for daughters car and towed it maybe 60 miles to a mechanic bud, 1 hour or less response time.
