How do I remove the rear bumper? - '99 Ford Escort

I am going to fix some rust along the edges of the rear wheel wells of my '99 Ford Escort. I think I need to remove the rear bumper to do so. I am a complete NOVICE at this type of thing.

Any suggestions? tools?

www.autozone.com has an online manual for 91 - 99 Escorts. Surprisingly they don’t explain how to remove a bumper, but there is plenty of info here anyway.
