How can I make sure I have a bad altenator?

Ok so I just put on a new fusible link and a new positive battery terminal and now the charging system works fine! But one thing is if I turn on a lot of electrical in the car the alternator belt begins to squeal loudly and the voltage stays around 12.5 volts. with only a few things on it doesn’t squeal at all and the voltage stays around 14.54 volts. could the tension of the belt be incorrect or something? The previous owner must have had the same issue of the belt squealing because there was a can of belt stop squeal stuff in the trunk.

The belt is not tight enough, tighten the belt.

Ok thank you for your help!

Yes, or the belt could be plum worn out is all. When you turn on stuff that draws electrical power, it creates a mechanical load on the alternator, making it harder to turn. Just the laws of physics, no way to prevent it. Since it is then harder to turn, it is harder for the engine-powered-belt to turn it without slipping.
