In case you missed it… The merger is a moving forward including Mitsubishi.

Yes, I had read that Mitsubishi is supposed to be part of this

And it’s NOT reassuring

Agree, No it isn’t reassuring!

It was, but just a couple of months later, it now appears to be dead in the water.
It sounds like Nissan didn’t want to be the “junior” partner, despite their rapidly-declining sales figures.

Well, this is just insane, imo

It sounds like Nissan is just plain arrogant and apparently thinks more of it itself than others do

As I see it, they are CLEARLY far weaker than Honda and should indeed be the junior partner

I’ve never met any Nissan owner who has had good experience with the Nissan brand. My brother owns a frontier ( Nissan) and boasts that it’s the best vehicle he’s ever owned. But from what I know is that it was parked for several years needing a transmission replacement.

It’s traditional, it would seem. My brother’s 1968 SPL310 was so bad that he vowed to never again buy a Datsun/Nissan. All of the chrome–including both bumpers–was rusted w/in 1 year. Rainwater poured into the cabin, at the base of the windshield, the tonneau cover couldn’t be secured because it didnt line up properly with the snaps. It performed poorly in cold weather, and the list goes on…

Back in the day, I had a 1988 Sentra, and it was just fine

But it was clearly inferior to the Civics and Corollas of its time

Yeah, I read that yesterday and was going to post it, but you got there first. Anyway, here’s the link I read. Also, I’m not sure where I read it, but the main reason that mergers don’t go through is that one of the partners feels like the other wants to be the senior member and the disrespected company’s managers can’t abide that. Ego wins again. BTW, I may have seen it in one of the articles posted above, it I’m not going through them to verify that.
