Hedging repair of misfire cost in truck to maybe save money in the future?

the truck is 9 years old, not driven much, about 38K miles, about 2 years ago, one ignition coil was replaced #1 because of misfire, now #4 was diagnosed as bad, i don’t have a code, the car was shaking in park position and was driving “rough”, the mechanic suggested he could replace all remaining three for about $300 more than I would pay for the replacement of one, #4 is in a hard to get spot, therefore it costs more, any thoughts?

Usually, when one coil fails, the others aren’t far behind.

That’s why I recommend replacing all of them.

Sorta like when one headlight fails, you know the other isn’t far behind.

Concur, I’d replace all the remaining three were I in that situation. I’d do some research about which oem brand(s) to use as well. I wouldn’t install any no-name cheapo coils.

thanks, the second one failed within two years, so the others may also go bad like you
suggest, your recommendation make sense.

thanks for the reply, the mechanic will use Nissan parts, I guess after 2 coils going bad, the remaining two may suffer the same fate in the near future. I will get them all fixed now.
The work and parts will be warranted for a year. And spark plugs will be replaced.

I recommend using only OEM parts for coils.

mechanic installed oem parts, thank you
