Heater Fan quits in cold weather

My heater fan works fine when it is warm, but quits working anytime the temperature gets below freezing. I am unemployed and unable to afford a mechanic, so I am hoping that there is an easy do-it-yourself fix. Thanks.

The next time the heater fan stops working, reach under the passenger side dash and rap on the fan motor with the handle of a screwdriver. If the fan starts working, the blower motor is being effected by the temperature.

The trouble may also be due to a bad connection or faulty relay for the blower so check those things out if rapping on the motor doesn’t help. You also may be able to get some wiring info at your local library to help you with this. A test light probe to check power with would help also.

Google is your friend. Search heater fan suburban and you will find several links to instructions how to get to it and so forth. It is possible that it is dirty and could use a little oil at the bearings.
