Heat Not Workign Well In Nissan

The heat in my Nissan Maxima (2001)does not seem to be working as well as it used to. It only “heats” when the car is moving. If I stop the heat becomes just air blowing. Is this normal? If not, how do I fix it. Thanks.

This commonly occurs when the engine coolant is low. Check the coolant level at the radiator not the overflow container.

“Is this normal?”

No. YOu said it’s not working as well as it used to.

Low coolant level is one possibility. Check that first.

An air pocket in the cooling system might cause this, even if the coolant appears full. A problem with the mechanism operating the temperature blend door in the HVAC system is also possible, especially if the system is vacuum operated.

If the coolant is’nt low, the heater core may need flushed.
