Front drive shaft 94 grand cherokee

replaced cv axles after 2yrs of having them removed. now when the drive shaft is connected, there is a loud gear whirring sound. i replaced the front u joint. the drive shaft was not marked when it was removed.

If your Jeep has the AWD transfer case (will only have 4HI, Neutral, and 4LO indications on the shifter), you might have fried the viscous coupler by leaving the driveshaft out for 2 years of driving. One way to test this is to drive in tight figure 8’s somewhere and see if you get front wheel hop. If you do, the VC is bad.
