I have a 98 Taurus. Whenever I turn the temperature dial past half way, it makes a clicking sound. The temperature does not get hot.
sounds like a cable’s jammed, and it’s probably stripping the plastic knob while you’re at it.
There is a door in the ducts of the heating system that is controlled by an electric stepper motor. The door or the motor is broken. You might be able to get to it from under the dash or by taking the glove box out. If not, the dash will have to be pulled back $$$ Follow the clicking sound and you will find the problem.
