Ford Ranger clutch issue

I can push in the clutch and dis-engage the gear. But I cannot shift from gear to gear with the engine running. So I have to turn off the engine, push the clutch in, put it in 2nd gear, start the engine, and let out the clutch, in order to move.

Can you shift from gear to gear with the engine shut off? If so, the clutch is not disengaging fully. Hydraulic leaks, internal or external, are usually the problem. How’s the clutch fluid level?

Yes, I can shift from gear to gear with the engine shut off. Where is the clutch fluid level checked?

There is a small reservior on the clutch master cylinder similar the the brake fluid reservior on the brake master cylinder, only smaller. It should be full of brake fluid.

Thank you SO MUCH!!! We filled it and it fixed it! Hurrah!!!
