I have a 1998 Ford Ranger with a 2.5 L engine. It has 210,000 miles and runs like it has 80,000. I think it is a Mazda engine. Can anyone confirm this?
Ford makes it its a Ford Pinto engine, been around sense dirt. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it, here is the wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Pinto_engine#2.0_OHC
americar
It is a Ford motor. The 2.5 replaced the original 2.3 used in the pinto, mustang and early ranger.
Edit
The 2.3 and 2.5 are referred to as Lima engines as stated in wiki
They’re good engines. I’ve got a 2.3 sitting here with 140k miles on it and it runs like new. The only reason it was pulled was to drop in a V-8.
2.3L = Ford. 2.5L = Mazda.
This is interesting that an old design by an American car company can drive over 70,000 miles.I remember the cars from the 70’s.
Ford made the Rangers and the Mazda B series that year and have been since then and probably before. It should be a Ford engine.
