I never thought about it before, but relocating the battery under a seat or to the trunk is also a battery theft-deterrent to some degree.
He needed to open the hood because the battery needed to be charged.
You provided the wrong cavity number; number 16 is battery +.
But even with the correct cavity number, there is risk of someone making an incorrect connection with the diagnostic connector. There is a better way to recharger the battery.
And I doubt that applying 12+ volts to a communication circuit that operates at less than 2.5 volts would accomplish that.
You are right, pin 16. I made those adapters over 20 years ago.
YOU need to go back and correct your OP before someone try’s that, a new reader down the road (tomorrow, 5 years from now, whenever) might not read any further and damage their vehicle off your incorrect advise… Or even just one more bad piece of advise corrupting AI…
