Ford Focus Battery light issues

Check Battery light came on, initially only when it was very hot (of course for the past few weeks it’s only been very hot). Had the charging system checked-they said I needed a new battery-replaced the battery-light’s still on. Before and after changing the battery-the systems’ voltage has been around 14.2 whether the light is on or not.

Anyone have any thoughts?

This kind of trouble is usually related to a problem with the alternator. There may be a bad diode inside it causing the trouble.

A check of the ground connections, and cables, and connections is the first place to start.
