Whitey,
I talked to my tech about the cost of replacing the boots and he told me he gives the retired customers a deal of $45.
This is a small community so word of mouth goes like wildfire. Any discounts are greatly appreciated.
He DOES do a proper inspection of the joint during the repacking. Any deteriorated joints will constitute a replacement and will cost more. How much? I didn’t ask.
Hope that helps.
Hi Roadrunner:
Do you know if your tech is referring to a split boot?
I’m having a difficult time understanding how anyone could do the job with a one piece boot (R&R axle, clean, inspect, repack), all for $45.
But then again, I’ve been wrong before…
I have to agree with JoeMario - that sounds implausible to me. Even for a split boot that just seems awfully low. I understand it is a “discount” - but even so - I don’t even think that would come close to breaking even.
I don’t know if it is too good to be true, but that’s a great deal.
I’m guessing it’s a split boot. That’s okay, though. Depending on your needs that might be all that’s necessary.
