Firewall

The firewall has pulled away from the body of my car and I am wondering how much it will cost to fix it, if it can be fixed at all. The car has 196000 miles on it and am not sure if it will even be worth fixing, or is it time to break down and get a new car?

You probably mean dashboard / instrument panel, not the firewall. If the firewall separated you wouldn’t have any structural integrity in the body. The dashboard is usually held on by screws and shouldn’t be too expensive to repair. The dealership should be able to give you an estimate.

I agree with RichW, but even that leaves me wondering. For a dashboard to pull away from its mountings would be highly unusual. Do you know anything about the history of this vehicle?

Years ago I had a '73 Olds station wagon. The dashboard screws pulled out and the whole thing bounced up and down. Sometimes you just have a quality issue but I too am interested in the background of the Aspire.
