Perhaps there are still a lot of really old cars in George’s neck of the woods.
Nobody wants your 1992 Toyota Corolla fenders, @George_San_Jose1
George has convinced me that fender theft is a significant problem, so I’m trying to decide on the proper type of protection.
or…
A fender is only worth its scrap metal value? hmmm … interesting theory, but wondering … What’s the cost of an oem BMW 3 series replacement fender?
How would you get it off? Transport it? Sell it? “Hey buddy, have I got a fender for you! Cheap!”
Is there some reason you don’t want to say what an oem BMW-3 series fender costs?
Heh heh, reminded me when the kids car was stolen, sifter breaking the ignition and steering lock, all they took were his cds and tool box. Left the fender alone.
Me thinks though if a guy has a high end bmw and a damaged fender, he either won’t care what it costs, or insurance will be paying. Now consider the painting will cost more than the fender, so steal one in the same color.
Oh George, George, George, and I defended ye when others wanted to silence you. A man should not be afraid to admit he was wrong.
Who was wrong?
Oh I dunno, fender theft, how to get something dropped inside a tire?
Asking a question about car and car repairs is wrong here? Really? IMHO you can’t be wrong by asking a question. You can only be wrong by answering incorrectly.
You failed to answer my question, is there a reason you don’t want to say?? Are you the only one privileged enough to ask questions and then not answer them and then expect us to answer yours?? You can google the cost of a BMW fender just as easy as anyone else…
Nobody seems to know the cost of an oem BMW 3 series fender apparently. I remind you that I’m not the person(s) who claimed the only value of a fender is its scrap metal value.
Still haven’t answered the question, and what year BMW fender are you asking about??
Seems to me like you are trying very hard to provoke members on here by asking questions that we don’t know , cost of fenders is more for an autobody forum, this is more of an automotive maintenance and break down forum… You can google the cost of a fender just like we can…
Here’s the wording of the OP:
If fenders are seldom stolen , any theories why thieves would steal the cat but leave the fender?
Here’s what I said above as to why:
My guess, fender-theft is more visible, more likely to get caught. Have to open the hood and door.
If I’m wrong, just tell the forum why I’m wrong.
BECAUASE IT IS CRAZY DIFFICULT TO REMOVE FENDERS, AND THERE’S NOT MUCH MARKET FOR THEM. Is that a clear enough answer?
I am not playing you games… later
Y’all have fun playing his games…
Most BMW owners would rely on a professional (and insurance claim) for a body repair.
If I bought a 10-year-old BMW with a damaged fender, I might not be willing to buy an OEM fender:
I could buy aftermarket:
The local pick-a-part yard has a BMW:
Isn’t that what I already said?
Do you have any proof for that claim?
