'Espanola vehicle explosion likely caused by cigarette'

I don’t know the specific requirements for hauling oxygen cylinders, but I’m sure one of them is that NO (in big letters, double underlined, and bold) sources of ignition are to be in the same compartment with oxygen cylinders. I would guess that when hauling 15 cylinders, they are to be in a compartment segregated from any passengers. Thankfully, nothing worse happened, to them or anyone around them. I hope those men realize they’re in the “I’m-thankful-to-be-alive-after-I-did-something-really-dangerous” club, followed by enrollment in the “I’ll-do-a-little-research-next-time” club.

If you want to see just how dangerous liquid oxygen can be, watch this video. Warning, it is graphic and the young sailor died a few minutes after the filming.

Note: she is just to get your attention, this is not pornographic.

Remembering the olden days looking for a gas leak with a zippo. The gas leaks would cause a flame but like a bbq grill produce a flame but not blow the source.

Nice video…very surreal. Odd that they deliberately make such a “camp” video and then end it like that, but I suppose it gets one’s attention.

Since I find it strange that someone in a Jeep is hauling around a bunch of high pressure cylinders with at least one of the occupants being a convicted felon I have to wonder if there is something going on there.

Maybe those tanks held something other than oxygen and my first thought was someone hauling chemicals to a meth lab.

Most of the farm towns around here have large main storage tanks for anhydrous ammonia and smaller towed tanks for use in the fields. The drug crowd hitting those tanks up at night and heisting anhydrous for use in manufacturing methamphetamine has been a common event.

The PD and toxicology lab should have it sorted out quickly. Below is a cut and paste.

One person was killed when a makeshift
container of anhydrous ammonia he was holding
exploded. The ammonia was to be used for
methamphetamine production. The death occurred
while two individuals where driving on an interstate
highway in Missouri. The driver was severely
injured. A firefighter, an emergency medical
technician, and a bystander who had stopped to help
and did not know the cause of the smoke were also
injured as a result of the ammonia release.

Something tells me the Jeep wasn’t insured either.

Ok guys and gals . . computer tech question ;
how do I get the ~ over the top of the N in Espanola ?
never could figure it out on any keyboard that has one ( and, like this one , usually not even high enough to be that. )

( Like so many spanish based words, Espanola is spelled with one of those things over the N and pronounced with the “ny” sounding N as if spelled ; ‘espaNYola’. )

I dunno. That would be something I’d have to go to my computer guy for but something tells me you have to select the spanish keyboard or something.

In your word processor go to “insert” then “special character” and it should give you a table to scroll through to get Ñ

Thanks Steve, I’ll try that sometime. ( don’t know if this work terminal has a word processor, so far they’re just side by side )

You have to type it in the word document and then copy it over to here, works most of the time

ñ, Press Alt plus 0241 (using the numeric key pad on the right).

Ñ, Press Alt plus 0209.

The instructions tell us that we can use simple html in our posts. html for ñ is ñ - it works! All them other funny characters, é, ö, à, ° are somewhat logical

ñ Ñ
feel free to copy these.

hëré ÿøû gô

Not that it matters, but I tried that and it kicked me out of the discussion.
