Would the 3.4 bolt right up?

This is a swap that has been around for about a decade, the motor and the transmission might bolt in (you might have to update the mounts) and the ECU and wiring for the motor needs to come with the 3.4 but the Body harness will not swap over, a conversion harness is $700 for the Automatic (google search turns up lots of discussions) It’s been done many times before apparently

Getting it smog legal may be a problem
They dropped the smog law here a couple years ago.
