Memorial Day I drove from Virginia Beach to Ft Meade, MD…a distance of about 215 miles. At some point my engine started knocking. I’m not sure when it started as I was driving alone and had the radio up for company. I didn’t run out of oil as I check it before I go on any roadtrip. Since it has already started knocking have I destroyed the engine? If not, what is the most likely repair that needs to be made?

*The number of miles on the odometer
*Whether it has been maintained in accordance with the manfacturer’s maintenance schedule
*When the “knocking” noise started, exactly what it sounds like, under what circumstances you hear the noise, and how far you drove it after first hearing the noise.
