This has a 5’ bed, the Ranger had 6’ or 7’ bed options. The Rangers I saw kept their beds pretty full.
My painter had a truck with a boom on it. The second vehicle pulled a large trailer.
The plumbers that I use need more vehicle than this stripped down truck for all the stuff they carry. I still think it will prove to more of a toy than work vehicle.
+1
My neighbor is having an extension built onto his house, and as you would imagine, there are a lot of trucks at his house every day. The carpenters, the plumbers, the electricians, and the siding guys all drive trucks that are a lot bigger than the Slate pickup.
Mine’s a 6’ bed and it was often pretty full. But that is manageable.
I also had a ladder rack for the ladders and the occasional materials I’d need to take to a job.
The crew that built my house didn’t need to carry anything but their tools. All the building materials were delivered. That same crew put an addition on a home a few doors down last fall. They still just carried their tools, no building materials.
Our fleet has just about every trade imaginable
I work on the trucks
This Slate EV is not going to cut it for our guys
The truck probably wouldn’t cut it for anyone in the trades. I rarely see anyone in the trades drive anything smaller than a F-150. But I do know several homeowners who could use a mini-hauler like this.
No where in the article did it mention Plug-in or Hybrid. This is an electric truck.
The more I read about this Slate truck the better a Ford Maverick looks.
