I removed my battery a few weeks ago and now cannot pass my emission testing! I have driven it for about 80 miles and each time I go back they say I have to drive it some more or do a drive cycle? They said a drive cycle is specific to each make and model but I cannot not find the specific drive cycle for my 2001 Toyota Echo!
To perform the proper drive cycles to reset the readiness monitors, Toyota specifies that a scanner be used to monitor various input signals into the computer. Depending on the input signals into the computer dictates how the drive cycle should be performed.
For example, depending on the air intake temperature during the drive cycle dictates if the vehicle should be driven 3 minutes or 7 minutes at a steady speed. And that’s just one step for the catalyst readiness monitor.
