But if not in the way of vehicles behind and not affecting opposite-direction traffic, the crossover allows getting to the blood center earlier.

Yes, I take a ‘long U-turn’:

After passing my destination or intended left turn, I signal left into a commercial parking lot or another side street up ahead, turn around in the parking lot, or use a driveway in the side street, come back out, and head back toward my intended step.

What makes your RX350 an “Authorized Emergency Vehicle”? Do you have a document from a Government Agency? Do you have Red and Blue emergency lights (not yellow)?

From your past postings, you imply that if a police officer were to give chase after you for driving 100 MPH down the road, or you make one of the aforementioned U-Turns, you could just flip on your lights and they would give you an ■■■■■■ to the county line…

Or is all of this “Hullabaloo” something you and your employers dreamed up?

When life and death deliveries are being made in Virginia, we use Real Emergency Vehicles, not some contractor who also supplies drivers for “Door Dash, Grubhub, Uber Earts, etc…”

Wife’s and my RX350s were examined and approved by the Colorado State Patrol.
As an emergencyehicle driver instructor I know the laws governing EV operation.

Whenever an emergent transport, dispatchers of law enforcement agencies through whose jurisdictions the EV travels are notified. Vehicle year, make, model, color, license plate, call-back number, mission, is provided.

On a few occasions an officer apparently did not see on his patrol car screen that the EV was transporting. Officer slowed when dispatcher informed it was an emergent medical transport.

Another time an officer was following when the hospital called saying the patient died.
Immediately I turned off das flashin’ lights,lowed to the speedimit, and the officer was confused.

Recently called to take blood, Stat, to a hospital 264 miles away.
For the 524-mile round trip, as a registered tree-hugger and Greenie, I removed the light bar to get the best gas mileage and produce least air pollution. (Also, some drivers slow below the posted speed limit when they see the light bar and think law enforcement.)

Driving normally, there was sufficient fuel to get to the hospital.

An RV fire closed westbound Eisenhower Tunnel. Everyone was directed over Loveland Pass.
Trafficrawling for miles. I called the hospital with the new GPS ETA. Add 2+ hours.

5 minutes later the blood bank called back saying that was too late and requested emergent transport.
Luckily I was able to take a nearby exit, fueled the vehicle and spoke with CSP and County Sheriff dispatch while others watched my bolting the light bar onto the roof rack rails.

No, have never flipped-on the lights to use a crossover. No need since emergencyehicles can use the crossovers. Lights only turned on upohospital personnel request.

I rearranged the lights [R][R][W][B][B][W][R][R] to not resemble law enforcement vehicles.

Oh, a few times county sheriffs preceded me thinking I had no siren. When not needed I am quiet.

The word was “e-s-c-o-r-t” as in ‘to accompany’
