Denver's default speed limit reduced from 25 to 20 mph

Just remembered that none of our Lexæ have cruise-control which maintainspeed below 25 mph. (Maybe 24)
Transporting blood platelets to a hospital with emergency lights operating, approaching adjacent Active School Zones (20 mph) I tried to use cruise control but it would not engage.

Will London help those residents with exemptions or help their vehicles run cleaner?

Good question, but I don’t know. Google & Wikipedia might be able to answer your question. From what I understand there are some ULEZ exemptions. I think they may apply only to certain older cars with specific engine/transmission configurations; i.e. just b/c a car is older doesn’t necessary imply by its age it pollutes more than a corresponding newer car.

Rolling 40yr old exempton from Ulez unless itsa commercial vehicle. Other exemptions exist

Do you mean classic cars 40 years old & older automatically get a ULEZ exemption? Makes sense as there are few cars that old still on the road. For those given the exemption, is there a miles/year limit on how much they can be used?

I could have written it a little better but yes, that’s one of the exemptions. There was no mileage limit it just had to be at least 40yrs old.

They’re going to start to be able to give speeding tickets to cyclists with such a low speed limit!

When not around pedestrians or bicyclists, wife and I sometimes ride our tandem bicycle fast.
No speedometer so we do not know if we havever attained or exceeded 20 mph.

Well if stopped you can just say the wife was driving.

Problem is that she has me ride in front. I catch the nats.
Does anyone make a bicycle speedometer? (Would not wa$te.)

Yes and lots of cheap choices… Matter-a-fact I had a friend that had an analog speedometer on one of his bikes 40 years ago… now I think they are GPS speedometers…

Of course! Any bycycle shop or sporting goods store has them. A magnet mounts to a spoke and the sensor mounts close to it. Just make sure you record your wheel circumference in milimeters or whatever once you get it calibrated so you don’t have to calibrate it again if it gets reset or broken.

I saw that movie.

I used them for years. I paid about $2 for SunDings. I used them mostly to measure the length of routes and know the time (no watch or 'smart’phone) and log the total mileage on bicycle maintenance logs - that way I knew how many miles a tire lasted. I broke them eventually, had measured all my routes, so didn’t replace the last one. Curiously, someone advertises them for $107 on eBay.

I’ve used the same Avocet bicycle speedometer for 30+ years. Other than needing a battery once in a while, very reliable. Their current “Model 15” looks like & matches the functions mine has.
