I have a 2000 Kia Sportage and the dash lights and running/parking lights are not working. The 10 Amp fuse for the tail/running lights keeps blowing. Does anyone have any idea as to what could be causing these problems on this year, make and model car and where I should look to find and fix the problem? I am trying to find and fix these problems as fast as I can, but I am not real sure as to where to even start looking.
Sounds like short to ground, possibly due to a pinched wire
I have a “short detector” which consists of a jumper wire with alligator clips and a circuit breaker. You bridge the fuse with the jumper and follow the wiring with the included meter. A short swings the needle.
I think I got it at NAPA, long ago. Of course I used on old British cars with simple electrical systems. Good luck. .
Do you have any idea as to where I might look for that pinched wire?
