Looking at the service information for my car, the lower damper fork nut (G) and bolt (F) are single use fasteners. I’m going to do the right thing and replace them. I’m just wondering why they are single use fasteners? I don’t think they are stretch to fit bolts.
The top bolt (E) apparently can be used multiple times though.
It’s a SLA setup, with a damper fork to the strut assembly to connect to the LCA.
The top bolt passes through a notch in the strut into a thread in the fork. So it is not torqued the yeild nor will the strut pop out of the fork if the bolt gets loose. The rattle will warn you something is wrong.
The lower bolt is likely torqued to yeild which means it cannot be used twice. The nut is a prevailing torque nut intended to be used only once since a 2nd install would not have the same safety retention torque. And finally if that bolt gets loose or breaks, very bad things happen.
