You can’t make an omelette without breaking eggs.

Manufacturing is becoming more efficient and new ways of doing things, like EVs, will reduce employment in manufacturing. It’s a big problem now, and will only get bigger. I hope we don’t have to leave people behind, but a lot are left behind already. We really need to do something about it.

It’s called “progress”.

There are 12 self-checkout station at my local Wal-Mart, installed recently. Saves 11 employees per shift (it takes 1 to monitor ad assist customers).
