CV Joints

After you first notice the ticking of a failing CV joint how long would you expect the joint to last?

Not very long; a colleague of mine mentioned her Mitsubishi CV joints were ticking, and on my advice she took it to the dealer who immediately replaced trhem under warranty.

On some, I got as much as six months. But I wait until it turns into a clacking noise while turning. Then it’s time to replace it.

I don’t think I got more than 500 miles or so from mine. When it goes, you just won’t go anywhere-just like in neutral. I was lucky though and it kept going until I put it in reverse to get into my parking stall, then all the parts fell out.
