Creaky Brakes

I have a 2004 Subaru Forester and the rear brakes creak when I depress them at low speeds. Seems to be more pronounced when the car has not been driven for awhile. I’ve had a new brake job and the dealer keeps telling me everything is in proper working order. Is this something I just have to live with?

Does the noise go away after driving for several miles and after using the brake several times, only to return again in a day or two? If that is the case, then you simply have some surface rust forming on the brake rotors when the car is inactive. Several brake applications will wear away the rust coating–at least temporarily.

Yes. It’s brake dust.
