I own a 1998 Subaru Outback limited with all the bells and whistles. Recently my alarm stared going off when other people hit their remote (mine quit working by the way). It now goes off when I put my key in the ignition. This leaves me stranded as the car will not start and the alarm will not stop until the battery is disconnected. The mechanics here say it cannot be fixed but they can disable it by ‘cutting some wires’. I am not confident in this solution. Any suggestions?

Take the battery out of your remote.
It sounds like it’s not working because it’s stuck “on”.
