Yes I understand the general business use of JIT inventory, but we are instead talking about reserves in case of immediate and unforeseen demand. The fed’s stock had been depleted 75% and was not restocked. Minnesota had an emergency stock but had been disposed off and not replenished according to my source. Making it worse, hospitals also reduced their inventory of emergency supplies with no safety stock. So these reserve supplies serve a much different purpose than for example sheet metal for a manufacturer. The Army does not wait for an emergency to order tanks or ammo. They have emergency stockpiles.
There are huge stock piles of emergency drugs such as iodine for nuclear attack, body bags, caskets, food, fuel, you name it. But the PPEs had been depleted and not restocked. The government is not a business and needs to be able to immediately respond to all kinds of disasters within hours. Never mind. Getting me going again.
Difficult, but not at all impossible.
Over the past month, Costco has had boxes of surgical masks–obviously at a very good price–available. However, the supply is… spotty. They will sell-out of the masks fairly quickly, and then it might take 2 weeks before they are re-stocked.
Also, I have a reliable mail-order source (a medical supply company), and I can provide their URL if anyone wants to send me a direct message. I don’t want to post their URL here, lest anyone thinks that I am hawking merchandise.
Living in an area near the early Hot Spots and seeing daily nursing home infection/death rates that looked like basketball scores, I think the only reason not to wear a mask around other people is because you really, really, hate your Grandma!.
But guess the plus side to NOT wearing a mask is that you won’t have to worry about BO 'cause nobody with a lick of sense is gonna come within 10 feet of you.
It’s a common problem here in Southern NH. Getting a pistol permit in NH is trivial compared to MA. Every year people are arrested in MA who are carrying and don’t have a MA permit, but they do have a NH permit.
I noticed a few weeks ago when I had to go into the local Walmart that they had masks, but you had to buy them at the counter. Masks were not available for delivery or pickup.
