I’ve got a 2000 Jeep Gr Cherokee. My waterpump failed and leaked coolant on the serpentine belt. Will this damage the belt, and should it be replaced along with the pump?
I would replace the belt, especially if it’s the original, which is now old enough to warrant replacement.
I forgot to mention that the serpentine belt is only a couple of months old.
Clean and reinstall the belt. If it doesn’t slip and make noise it will probably be OK. If it’s not too expensive I’d be tempted to replace it anyway, just to be on the safe side.
