Connection I've Never Encountered

That’s 8 years newer and different, right?

I’m a mechanic on the municipal level and we sometimes use Grainger, because they are one of many vendors that are contracted to do business with us

Sure, they can get a wide variety of parts . . . but they GOUGE us on the price :moneybag:

First off, I agree with you about pricing, no business should be price gouging, charging exorbitant prices just because they can is just plain wrong, but we need to be fair about this, without profit, they have no reason to stay in business…

But people like “Pharma Bro” Martin Shkreli, the former chief executive officer of Turing Pharmaceuticals and KaloBios Pharmaceuticals Inc, who raised the price of some life-saving drugs by 4,000% deserved the 7-years prison sentence and the 60+ million dollar fine…

However, case in point and this is car oriented as we have discussed the problem with rodents eating the wiring in vehicles… I had written that I use a small tub of Mothballs, Dryer Sheets, Chips of Irish Spring Soap, and Oil of Spearmint to keep them out of my engine compartments. Yes, I have to remove the tub before driving off, but it is a chore I accept to keep my vehicles safe…

But back on point, I have recently add electronic rodent repellents to my arsenal. I could have bought them on ebay cheaper, but I was willing to pay more to have the convenience of picking them up as my local ACE Hardware Store… If I have an issue, I can easily return them, I was able to pick them up immediately, not have to wait for them to be sent in the mail from some nebulous post office box.

Sometimes you have to pay for convenience… I’ve also shopped Grainger, but I am willing to accept that having an item in stock cost the business money, they bought it, they stored it, and they hope they can ultimately sell it… I go to Granger because I trust their business practices, I trust their products, and I enjoy a cup of coffee with the staff (L  L . . . )

If I get an item cheaper by “mailing away” or ordering “on line” I do not know when, or even if I will get it and who knows what the quality of an item is until it’s too late…

I’ve also written that I support my local Mom 'n Pops shops with my dollars… It may cost more, but if we do not support them, they will continue to go away and I cannot ever remember having a good conversation with a “big box” store associate about any of their products.

However, I still remember and cherish the discussion I had with “Pops Montgomery” about “Hot-dip galvanized nails” verses “Electro-galvanized nails” Yes, there is a BIG difference, the best Hot-dipped are double dipped and they are very-nearly water proof and perfect for outside use. Electro-galvanized are good, but not weatherproof, “Nuff said on that…”

Final point, while Pops and I spoke, we sat, we had a cup of coffee, and munched on Vanilla Wafers… :coffee: :fortune_cookie: :fortune_cookie: :fortune_cookie:
